Leeds takeover: Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sport Investment ‘in talks’ to buy Championship club

Paris Saint-Germain’s owners are interested in buying Leeds from Andrea Radrizzani, reports claim.

Qatar Sports Investment, led by PSG’s billionaire president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, are set to meet with the Leeds owner in Doha on Monday to discuss a potential takeover.

The Qatari businessman, 45, bought the French club in 2011 and quickly became notorious for huge investment – spending £300m on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe alone.

And according to L’Equipe, he is keen to venture out into English football due to PSG’s continued woes in Europe.

The respected French publication reports that Al-Khelaifi has been in talks with Leeds for ‘months’, with Nottingham Forest also on his radar.

Radrizzani spent heavily last summer in a bid to secure Premier League promotion, but Leeds fell short, losing to Derby in the play-off semi-finals.

The club missed out on a £200million windfall by failing to go up – and it is understood Radrizzani will struggle to fund another promotion bid, especially given the uncertainty surrounding his sports broadcast company Eleven Sports UK.

Meanwhile, Radrizzani has managed to persuade Bielsa to stay at Elland Road for another season, despite suggestions he would leave.

The Argentine boss is understood to be earning £3.4million per year – treble that of the next highest-paid Championship manager – with a contract running until 2020.
