Chelsea transfer news: Eden Hazard hints at future as Real Madrid move looms for Blues star

Eden Hazard has again refused to clarify his future in the build-up to Chelsea’s Europa League final against Arsenal.

Speculation continues to grow he will join Real Madrid in the summer with reports on Saturday suggesting the Blues want £130million for the forward.

The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Hazard is thought to be high on the LaLiga club’s wish list during the transfer window.

Zinedine Zidane is preparing for a large overhaul of the Madrid squad following their disappointing season in league, cup and Champions League.

Hazard was asked about his future ahead of their Europa League final with Arsenal in Baku on May 29.

“My last match? I do not think that at all,” he told RMC Sport.

“I’m only thinking about winning this match and then what will happen after that will happen.

“I have an important week to prepare, with a trophy to play for.”

Hazard joined the Blues in 2012 for £32million from Lille and has gone on to be one of the world’s best players.

He has scored 108 goals in 351 appearances and has won five trophies with the club, including two Premier League titles.

West Ham transfer news: Edimilson Fernandes ‘set for £8million move to Mainz’

West Ham outcast Edimilson Fernandes is set to seal an £8million move to Mainz, according to reports.

The 23-year-old made 29 Serie A appearances in a loan spell with Fiorentina as they narrowly avoided relegation in the 2018/19 season.

He is yet to play under West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini and looks set for a London Stadium exit.

The Sun claim Fernandes has agreed terms with Mainz ahead of an £8million move to the German club.

The deal would see the Hammers make a small profit on the midfielder, who joined the club for £5.5million from Sion in 2016.

Earlier this month, Franco Moretti, Fernandes’ agent, said his client had enjoyed his time in Italy.

“The boy is very happy with his experience in Fiorentina, he is very happy to be in Italy,” he said.

Pellegrini has identified Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes as his number one transfer target this summer.

The Spaniard impressed in a recent loan spell with Everton and is also believed to be attracting interest from Tottenham.

West Ham reportedly had an £18million bid for Gomes rejected by Barcelona on Monday.

Broadcast journalist Hayden Atkins snapped the photo of Jutkiewicz in his Birmingham kit at 4.30am.

He share the picture on Twitter and wrote: “Seeing Lukas Jutkiewicz head to toe in a blues kit at 4.30am at Stanstead airport going on his stag do was a right highlight this morning.”

The 30-year-old could be seen wheeling a suitcase through the airport with friends, but it is unknown where he was heading out to for the stag do.

The striker has previously played for Coventry, Middlesbrough and Burnley.

He initially joined Blues on loan at the start of the 2016 season but that was later made a permanent move.

Jutkiewicz enjoyed his best goal return this season as he netted 14 times for Birmingham in 46 Championship games.

They ended the season in 17th place and were able to avoid relegation despite receiving a nine-point deduction.

Football: Five things that have gone wrong for Manchester City

LONDON (AFP) - English champions Manchester City slumped to a third shock defeat in four Premier League games at Leicester on Boxing Day to slip to third in the table and seven points adrift of unbeaten leaders Liverpool.
Just a few weeks ago they seemed unstoppable as they started their title defence with a 15-game unbeaten run.
However, a 2-0 reverse at Chelsea has sparked a run of three defeats in 18 days as Crystal Palace and Leicester both came from behind to hand Liverpool a huge advantage in the title race ahead of their trip to face City on Jan 3.
Here, AFP Sports looks at what has caused City's sudden collapse:

1. Fernandinho irreplaceable

City coped admirably in Kevin de Bruyne's absence for most of the campaign through injury thanks to an array of creative midfielders, but have badly missed Fernandinho's ability to play the more destructive role in midfield in the last two games.
The 33-year-old Brazilian had started every league game until Palace's visit on Saturday and is the one player in City's squad without a natural replacement.
Centre-back John Stones deputised at the weekend, while the more attack-minded Ilkay Gundogan was deployed at the base of the midfield in Leicester.
"We have to try and find solutions. Ferna was not able to play because he's injured. We have to overcome this problem," said coach Pep Guardiola, who tried to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho from Napoli in the summer as cover for Fernandinho.
"You have to think about how to solve it when you don't have players in a position."

2. Four competitions take their toll

Even for a squad as deep as City's, English football's unique combination of a packed festive period and an extra Cup competition can stretch resources.
Just eight days ago a strong City side beat a much-changed Leicester to reach the League Cup semi-finals and stay alive in four competitions.
Leicester boss Claude Puel claimed victory on Wednesday was vindication for his criticised team selection in the Cup tie with the Foxes fresh to spring surprises over both Chelsea and City in the past five days.
As well as de Bruyne, Sergio Aguero didn't start against Chelsea or Palace due to injury, while David Silva has also been sidelined by injury in recent weeks.

3. Missing Mendy

Left-back has also been a problem position, even as City enjoyed great success last season, due to Benjamin Mendy's knee troubles.
The Frenchman's return to fitness and form in the early weeks of the season promised to give City an extra dimension to their attacking play, but he has been sidelined again since early November.
Fabian Delph, a central midfielder by trade, has filled in at left-back, but is now facing a three-match ban, including the Liverpool game, after being sent off late on at Leicester.

4. Defending the Premier League difficult

Guardiola won three consecutive league titles at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but retaining the title in England has proved impossible for any team in the past decade.
A Manchester United side containing Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney were the last to do it in 2008-09.
City's record haul of 100 points last season led many to believe they would buck that trend, but it is proving tougher than expected.
"Last season, everyone said it was so easy, but I know how difficult it was," insisted Guardiola.
"Last season we were so consistent and made a lot of points. They (Liverpool and Spurs) are both so consistent."

5. Can City chase?

The question remains whether a Guardiola side is capable of chasing down a title rival to win the league in the manner Alex Ferguson's Manchester United made routine in the 1990s.
In most of Guardiola's seven title triumphs, his Barca, Bayern and City sides have been well in front by this stage of the season.
Now they have to play catch-up and their lack of reaction to going behind to Chelsea, Palace and Leicester leaves City's mentality open to question.
"We have to find an explanation," said Bernardo Silva. "It's mathematically possible, but we have to be almost perfect from now."

Steve Clarke: Kilmarnock manager charged over Steven McLean comments

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke has been charged over comments he made about referee Steven McLean in the wake of Aberdeen’s 1-0 defeat of his side last weekend.

Three Killie players were sent off by McLean throughout the game, which was decided by Scott McKenna’s 66th-minute strike.

McLean dismissed Kirk Broadfoot, Stuart Findlay and Rory McKenzie during last weekend’s fixture

Clarke called McLean’s performance the ‘worst he had ever seen’, and suggested the 38-year-old should not be allowed to oversee KIlmarnock matches given his father used to play for the Rugby Park club.

Stuart McLean made over 550 appearances for Killie throughout a 16-year career, and he was inducted into their Hall of Fame three years ago for his services to the club.

“Since I’ve been here, he’s always seemed to struggle with Kilmarnock games,” Clarke said of the younger McLean after last weekend’s match.

“Maybe, or definitely, that’s because his father was a player here for so many years. Whether he feels the pressure of that, it seems to affect his performance.

“I have mentioned privately that maybe Steven shouldn’t referee Kilmarnock games just to take that burden, that extra pressure, off him. Now I’m saying it publicly.

“I think it would be better for Steven as a referee and for Kilmarnock as club.”

He has since been charged for his comments, with a hearing to take place on May 9.

Killie currently sit fourth in the Premiership, three points behind third place Aberdeen, ahead of Saturday’s visit of Celtic to Rugby Park.

The incident reportedly occurred as Chelsea took a corner in front of the Gwladys Street End early in the first-half.

No-one was hit by the object and Everton are looking into the matter.

“We are investigating the alleged incident and reviewing footage. If anyone is found responsible for this or other such incidents, the club will take robust action,” said a statement from the club.

The FA have written to both clubs asking for their observations.

The alleged incident came two days after the FA, Premier League and EFL issued a joint statement, urging “all supporters to carefully consider their behaviour” at the weekend’s games and “all games in the future”.

That statement followed high-profile incidences of crowd trouble the previous weekend when Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was punched by a spectator who ran on to the pitch during their match at Birmingham and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling was shoved by a pitch invader during his side’s match with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Everton manager Marco Silva has been fined £12,000 after accepting an improper conduct charge for his behaviour after the defeat to Newcastle earlier this month.

The Portuguese was furious the hosts’ winning goal in their 3-2 victory at St James’ Park was allowed to stand as Salomon Rondon, who touched the ball on to goalscorer Ayoze Perez, was among a number of players offside in the build-up.

Silva confronted referee Lee Mason on the pitch and then turned his anger towards the assistant who had not raised his flag.

“When they scored the third goal it was a big mistake by the assistant – it was a clear offside…it’s not just one or two players in offside positions, there were five Newcastle players in the same line in offside positions,” Silva said afterwards.

His venture on to the pitch resulted in a FA charge and led to the fine by an independent regulatory commission.

“The Everton manager accepted an improper conduct charge from The FA, which resulted from his behaviour on the field of play at the end of the Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on March 9,” a statement from the FA read.
