John Hartson says Neil Lennon needs to go out and win the treble for Celtic to make himself impossible to sack.
Lennon is in caretaker charge of the Hoops after Brendan Rodgers quit to take the Leicester City job.
Celtic are 10 points clear in the Scottish Premiership, are into the Scottish Cup semi-final and have already won the League Cup.
Rodgers could have won a historic treble treble with the club but instead chose a move to the Premier League.
Lennon enjoyed great success with Celtic during his first four-year spell in charge and was brought in until the end of the season.
Hartson, who played with Lennon at Celtic, believes it would be very tough for the board if he were to go on and complete the full set of silverware this season.
â€Å“I think he might need to go on (after the end of the season). They are going to win the league as they are ten points clear,” Hartson told talkSPORT at the launch of this year’s BT Sport Pub Cup.
â€Å“There’s a lot to sort out, there’s five or six players that have to go back on loan. They will need to add more players.
â€Å“The Champions League qualifiers will start in June and they need to get another manager in. The Scottish Cup Final is on May 25, if they get there.
â€Å“For me, Neil has done the job before and had great success. They’ve got a manager there who knows the job inside out.
â€Å“Obviously, it’s divided right now whether they want another manager or the fans want Neil.
â€Å“From my point of view, Neil Lennon will have to continue to be successful by winning the league and winning the Scottish Cup where he makes it almost impossible for the board to change it.
