Raheem Sterling would not look out of place at Barcelona or Real Madrid.
That’s according to Les Ferdinand, who spoke to talkSPORT about the Manchester City and England star as part of a documentary called ‘The Rise of Raheem’.
“When you look at his improvement under Pep [Guardiola], you think to yourself ‘wow’ and he’s still young,” he said.
Sterling scored 17 Premier League goals for Man City in their treble winning season and was named as Player of the Year by the Football Writers.
“There’s a lot more for him to learn and there’s a lot more for him to do and he’s enjoying his successes in front of goal,” Ferdinand, Queens Park Rangers’ director of football, added.
“If he continues to have the success he’s having at Manchester City, then you could see a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona being the next stepping stone for him.

“When you look at some of the players playing for those teams at the moment, he’d certainly be in good company if he went to those football clubs.”
Sterling actually scored 25 goals in all competitions as City won the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, while the 24-year-old scored twice for England in their Nations League campaign and four in qualification for Euro 2020.
Even Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s imperious Champions League winning centre-half voted for him to be crowned the PFA Player of the Year.
Van Dijk ended up winning the prize, but explained his vote. “I voted for Raheem Sterling. I did what I thought and I thought he deserves it. He’s had a fantastic season. I think I could have voted for Bernardo Silva as well and another couple of players from Manchester City. But I am just being honest. I think he has improved a lot as a player.”
The Rise of Raheem is on talkSPORT at 9pm on 4 June featuring contributions from Virgil van Dijk, Pep Guardiola and Steve Gallen
