The Bundesliga club are struggling this season and are fourth from bottom in the league.

They have only three games left to secure their top-flight status.

Manager Domenico Tedesco was sacked in March after his side were thrashed 7-0 by Manchester City in the Champions League.

Interim boss Huub Stevens is set to take charge of the club for the rest of the season.

Wagner joined Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff at Borussia Dortmund when he retired from playing and was appointed their second team manager in 2011.

He then left for Huddersfield in 2015 and within two seasons had guided them to the Premier League via the play-offs.
