Why Liverpool will get more Premier League money than Manchester City REGARDLESS of who wins the title

Liverpool will earn more Premier League income than Manchester City… even if the Reds fail to win the title.

The two clubs are locked in a relentless race to be crowned champions, with one point separating them on the final day of the season.

The title will be decided on Sunday

City will retain their crown with victory at Brighton, while Liverpool must get a result against Wolves and hope for the best.

But even if the Reds finish second, they will still get more Premier League money than their rivals.

That’s according to sportingintelligence.com, which forecasts that Liverpool will receive £149.5million compared to City’s £148.1million.

A significant portion of that comes from TV game fees – and Jurgen Klopp’s men have featured on the box more than any other team in the league.

They have had 29 games on TV compared to City’s 26, generating £3.4million more than the league leaders.

That extra broadcasting income outweighs the difference between finishing first and second in the table; if the league stays the same, City will only receive £2.1million more than Liverpool in prize money.

The final revenue is made up as part of the equal share given out to all 20 Premier League teams. For the 2018/19 season, this share is valued at £79.4million per team.
