Manchester City took control of the Premier League title race with a vital victory in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
Pep Guardiola’s men beat Manchester United 2-0 thanks to second-half strikes from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane to put the reigning champions a point clear of Liverpool with three games to go.
It was a game everybody had their eye on with Liverpool fans taking a particular interest as this was seen as a big opportunity for City to potentially lose ground in the gripping contest for the trophy.
However, it wasn’t to be for the dreaming Kopites as City were ultimately too good for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
And with football being a pretty emotional game, a number of Liverpool fans took to Twitter to voice their anger and hurt.
A few were a bit more optimistic, backing the likes of Burnley and Leicester – who have to play City before the final day – to possibly get something off the Citizens but generally it was an overriding feeling of disappointment among the Liverpool faithful.
Below you can see the best tweets from these Reds supporters reacting to the result.
