Ally McCoist has confirmed he would be interested in the Kilmarnock job if he was approached by the club – much to the shock of talkSPORT colleague Alan Brazil.

Steve Clarke has left Killie to take the Scotland job after miraculously guiding them to third in the Scottish Premiership, securing unprecedented Europa League qualification.

And McCoist, a fan favourite on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, has emerged as a contender to become the next manager at Rugby Park.

McCoist admits he would be tempted by the Killie job

The Rangers legend spent three years at Killie towards the tail end of his playing career.

When asked if he would consider the role, he told talkSPORT: “Absolutely.

“I had three fantastic years down there. It’s a great club.”

Brazil took offence to the prospect of his partner in crime leaving him for another job – but McCoist offered some light-hearted reassurance.

He told Brazil: “I don’t think it’s going to happen.

“I’ve had the talkSPORT bosses on already this morning and they’ve offered me a quarter of your salary, so I think it’s too good an offer to knock back!”
