The France international has previously been linked with Premier League duo Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as French giants PSG, but Barcelona is seemingly his preferred destination.

According to MARCA, a deal to take Griezmann to the Catalan giants was agreed some time ago – with the contract set to be signed imminently.

Lawyer Sevan Karian is said to be heading to Barcelona on behalf of his client to seal the deal.

Altetico boss Diego Simeone praised his outgoing striker ahead of Saturday’s match with Levante.

Speaking at a press conference, Simeone said: “First of all I am grateful for the footballer we have had.

“I only have words of gratitude for Griezmann. As a person I love him very much.

“When you give everything like Antoine has given us, we are calm. We knew Griezmann’s departure was a possibility.”
