The Premier League summer transfer window officially opened on Thursday and Liverpool will no doubt be among the most active clubs in the market.
While their season is far from over, with the small matter of the Champions League final against Tottenham in Madrid on June 1 to contend with, you can guarantee Jurgen Klopp is already preparing for next season.
The Reds finished as runners-up to Manchester City, with a total of 97 points, despite only losing once in the league all season.
There are very few weaknesses in the current Liverpool side, who boast an steady defence, strong midfield and excellent attack.
LATEST TRANSFER NEWS
Virgil van Dijk was named the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Players’ Player of the Year, Alisson won the Golden Glove award after keeping 21 clean sheets and Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah shared the Golden Boot on 22 goals each along with Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
However, that does not mean there will not be any signings or departures at Anfield over the next few months.
talkSPORT.com rounds up the latest rumours.
Ugurcan Cakir
According to the player’s agent, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in the 23-year-old Trabzonspor goalkeeper, who has caught the eye of several European clubs for his assured displays between the sticks.
Reds chief Jurgen Klopp is looking for a back-up to Alisson, with current no.2 Simon Mignolet set to leave the club in the summer.
Julian Brandt
In April, German media outlet, Bild, said Jurgen Klopp is willing to activate the German international’s release clause of £21m.
Tottenham are also in the running for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder who has six goals and 11 assists this season and could fill the void, should Christian Eriksen leave in the summer. However, reports suggest the playmaker wants to remain in Germany and Borussia Dortmund are leading the chase should he go.
Daniel Sturridge
The Liverpool striker’s nine-year stay at Anfield is set to come to an end when his contract expires in the summer. Sturridge has struggled to hold down a place under Klopp, despite working his way back into contention following a loan spell with West Brom in 2017/18.
The injury-plagued Englishman would be replaced by academy starlet Rhian Brewster, who was recently named on the bench against Barcelona.
Timo Werner
One striker who could be on his way to Liverpool, is RB Leipzig’s Werner.
The 23-year-old has 61 goals in 112 appearances in all competitions and 30 this campaign and is one of the best young attackers in German football.
Sky Germany report that he will not sign a new contract with the club at the end of the season.
Memphis Depay
Despite the Holland international struggling at Manchester United, he has managed to rebuild his career since moving to Lyon in 2017.
Depay has 10 goals and 15 assists this season and according to French outlet Mercato 365, Klopp sent scouts to monitor the 25-year-old as he looks to boost competition among his current attack.
Lloyd Kelly
The rampaging left-back is hot property at Bristol City and rightly so. The versatile defender can play anywhere across the back line and plays with a maturity beyond his 20 years. Still in the early days of his career, his displays have caught the eye of several Premier League sides.
Southampton were quoted £15m back in January, while Arsenal are also among the interested sides.
