A police officer walked through the gate before striking the fan on the head.

The fan reacted furiously to the incident and attempted to kick the gate down before two more police officers on horses came into the picture to hit him with the batons again.

This news comes after four British people were arrested by local police on the eve of the final – a game Liverpool won 2-0 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.

In a social media clip posted on Tottenham fan account COYS News, police were seen entering a bar with batons on Friday night before one supporter drinking outside the restaurant appeared to be struck by an officer.

Supporters gathered outside the bar insisted the intervention was unprompted.

“We were having a laugh and having a joke – it was all Tottenham and just fun,” said one supporter.

“Then suddenly two police come at us and suddenly it was bang, bang, they all came steaming in. Smashing tables with their batons. They’re doing it just because they can. They are bang out of order.”

However, this version of events is disputed by Liverpool fans inside the bar, who claim they heard a small group of Spurs fans shouting provocatively about Merseyside.

It is understood 70,000 fans descended on Spain’s capital for the showpiece final even though each club only received an allocation of 16,000 tickets each.
